Story of Feu [Fire]

To represent the element of Fire, I chose to paint a Native American woman, given the significant role fire plays in many rituals across North America, such as the smudging of purifying plants, sacred pipes, and sweat lodges.

In my painting, the red can be interpreted both as body paint and as burns. Although red is a sacred colour, each Native American tribe had its own interpretation of its use, whether to signify war, victory, happiness, or beauty. Each viewer will find their own meaning within the context of the artwork.
