Story of Terre [Earth]

To embody the element of Earth, I chose to portray an African woman, paying tribute to the deep and ancestral connection that humans have with the Earth in traditional cultures. In Africa, the land is seen as a precious heritage, passed down through generations by the ancestors—a treasure that does not belong to us, but one we are entrusted to protect. I love this idea of being guardians, where each generation cares for what has been given to them to pass it on to the next.

This sacred relationship is rooted in a fundamental balance: to never take from the Earth more than we can return to it. So-called “primitive” peoples remind us, with wisdom and humility, what it truly means to live in harmony with our environment, teaching us anew the very principles of ecology.

To express the raw and living power of this element, I sought to evoke both the immense forces of tectonic plates—shifting and reshaping the world—and the emergence of a new human being, rising from the Earth, a harbinger of the future. A rebirth born from chaos, carrying the hope of regeneration, and the promise of a world reimagined, in harmony and symbiosis with all life.
