Freelance Watercolour Illustrator for Publishing and Brands

My Areas of Expertise in Freelance Illustration

Each freelance illustration project is a creative collaboration — a dialogue between your vision and my artistic world.
Together, we bring to life unique illustrations that stay true to your values and to my distinctive watercolour style.

I accompany you in your editorial illustration projects (books & press), visual communication illustration for brands, and game illustration.

Watercolour Thank-You Cards

With Minuit sur Terre, we enhanced the customer experience from the moment the parcel is opened: their vegan trainers are accompanied by an animal illustration inspired by the brand’s seasonal embroidery, with personalised messages on the reverse side.

Like them, strengthen the emotional bond with your customers and shine a light on your core values.

Offer your clients a unique, hand-painted thank-you card designed to extend the emotion beyond a purchase, an event or a collaboration.
The watercolour transforms it into a cherished keepsake — one that finds its place on a desk, a wall or a fridge.

Illustrated and Personalised Gift Cards

Together, we created a series of illustrated gift cards featuring portraits of their mascot Cannelle, adapted for every occasion – birthday, Christmas, thank-you, Valentine’s Day and more.

Like them, make gifting easier for your customers while reinforcing your brand identity.

An illustrated gift card turns a simple voucher into a meaningful present.
Created in traditional watercolour, it highlights your products while offering a more heartfelt and memorable experience.
There’s no need for an additional card — the message and the image come together on a single, beautiful object that people are delighted to offer and keep.

Bespoke Watercolour Greeting Cards

Offer your clients and partners an authentic, memorable watercolour greeting card.

Hand-painted, your card embodies your Cultural Responsibility (RCE) through end-of-year communication created by a living artist.

Thanks to my background in eco-design and my network of ethical partners (graphic designer, responsible printer), your card can also reflect your Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Each bespoke illustration is designed in harmony with your values, a key moment of the year, or a cause close to your heart — creating a unique piece your recipients will treasure, display and share, extending your brand’s presence far beyond the festive season.

Watercolour-illustrated invitation cards

Make a lasting impression from the moment your guests receive your watercolour-illustrated invitation. Designed for press events, annual gatherings, seminars or high-end themed evenings, it immerses your guests in the unique atmosphere of your event from the very first glance.

Each hand-painted, bespoke illustration enhances your brand and conveys your exclusive identity while offering an authentic and memorable touch. Thanks to my network of creative partners, your card can take on the form you envision — simple or folded format, prestige edition or fine art printing.

Artistic happening: live illustration for your events

With Minuit sur Terre, we delighted VIP guests during their celebration marking the brand’s arrival in Isère. Together, we designed a bespoke illustration for the event, reproduced on cards that I then personalised live for each guest. Everyone left with one or several unique and memorable keepsakes.

Offer your guests a live, hand-painted memento that leaves a lasting impression well beyond the event itself.

Turn your store openings, press events, private sales or exclusive corporate gatherings into unforgettable experiences with a live artistic performance.

Watercolour book cover illustrations

Each illustration is crafted to captivate readers, convey the emotion of your story, and help your book stand out on the market. The result: a unique, distinctive cover ready for print or digital use — true to your narrative.

Whether you are a publisher or a self-published author, let’s imagine together the imagery that embodies your story.

Invite your readers into your novel’s or poetry collection’s world at first sight with a bespoke watercolour book cover. As a freelance illustrator, I create original covers infused with poetic, dreamlike or fantastical atmospheres — sometimes historical — bringing your key characters and universe to life.

Bespoke illustrated activity booklets

Together with the Cœur d’Ostrevent Tourist Office, we created a bespoke illustrated activity booklet combining children’s and naturalist illustration — designed to highlight, in a playful and engaging way, the region’s cultural heritage and biodiversity for families.

Each illustration is hand-painted, crafted to be both aesthetically pleasing and true to nature or history, and adapted for print or digital use. This project perfectly illustrates the impact of a bespoke, original and memorable illustrated booklet.

Designed for cultural centres and public events, this kind of booklet blends the joy of play with artistic quality, offering an immersive, educational experience that encourages both children and adults to explore and care for their heritage and environment.

Watercolour-illustrated card decks and oracles

With Beautiful Moon, we co-created a lunar rituals oracle deck featuring 48 illustrations of strong feminine figures, animals and plants – each one resonating with the energy of its astrological sign and house.

This project perfectly showcases the power of a traditionally illustrated card deck – blending beauty, emotion and artistic coherence – ideal for publishers or high-end creative brands.

I create bespoke, hand-painted oracle decks and illustrated card games in watercolour, combining realistic detail with a handmade, poetic aesthetic to craft an immersive experience. Each illustration is designed to foster projection, attachment and emotion, while ensuring visual harmony with the game’s narrative world.

This list of fields is not exhaustive.
I am always curious to discover new projects where watercolour illustration can enrich your visual communication.

Why choose traditional illustration for your communication?

Illustration: a powerful asset for visibility and recognition

In a world saturated with content, illustration captures attention where text alone can easily be skimmed over.

But it does more than catch the eye – it invites pause, evokes curiosity, and leaves a lasting impression.

Images, especially bespoke illustrations, linger in the mind. They don’t just show – they tell, suggest, and make us feel – all with minimal effort from the viewer.

Illustration helps you build a strong and cohesive visual identity that reflects who you are.
It conveys your values, commitments and story – whether your goal is to attract new clients, strengthen your reputation, or enhance the experience of your loyal customers.

A human alternative to stock images and artificial intelligence

At a time when many visuals are generated by AI or drawn from impersonal image banks, choosing bespoke illustration is a meaningful act: a return to authenticity and human connection.

Each image is a unique creation, designed with your specific goals in mind, and co-developed according to how closely you wish to be involved in the process.
Working with an independent illustrator is about building trust, exchanging ideas, and seeking together the right visual and emotional expression.

It is also a conscious social choice:

– You support an artist who shares your ethical, ecological and human values.
– You collaborate with a creative personality you can proudly highlight.
– You affirm your commitment to art, culture or your local area by promoting local talent through your communication.

Why entrust me with your illustration project?

As a freelance watercolour illustrator, I guide you in creating bespoke, authentic and responsible illustrations, underpinned by a professional and artistic approach.

Professional and Structured Support

With experience in project management at an international level, I offer a smooth and well-organised collaboration:

  • Detailed quotation and clear contract: milestones, expectations, responsibilities and budget are defined from the outset.

  • Tailored involvement: I adapt to the level of participation you wish to have.

  • Transparent communication at every stage.

My goal is to provide a reassuring collaborative experience, built on trust and mutual respect.

I am a watercolour artist, with a distinctive aesthetic universe centred on portraits of women and animals.
My approach aims to raise awareness about the protection of living beings, through works that convey both emotion and commitment.

As a freelance illustrator, I bring this artistic sensitivity to brands, publishers, and socially engaged organisations.
Clients choose to work with me for the recognisable style I develop, and for the coherence between their project and my artistic approach.

I always position myself as a creative partner, in order to produce bespoke illustrations that are meaningful and aesthetically strong, which you will be proud to integrate into your communication.

All my illustrations are hand-painted using traditional watercolour techniques.

This artisanal skill is a genuine asset for projects that value handmade work, authenticity, and local production.
It offers a warm and sensitive alternative to the standardisation of AI-generated images or stock photography.

This approach also allows for original formats:

  • exhibition of the original artwork at an event or in your premises

  • gifts for clients or collaborators, with the option of numbered and hand-enhanced prints for launches or signing sessions

Traditional does not mean limited:
Each illustration is carefully digitised and refined to meet the technical requirements of your media:

  • files optimised for web or print (packaging, stationery, labels, etc.)

  • adherence to formats, resolutions and colour profiles

The painterly gesture remains visible, while ensuring a professional finish fully integrated into your communication.

I advocate for an illustration practice that respects living beings.

Clients also value my tangible commitment:

  • a continuous improvement approach to my work (choice of materials, suppliers, equipment, etc.)

  • a qualification in graphic eco-design (obtained in 2025), allowing me to advise on more responsible and accessible visual communication

I am not a graphic designer, but I collaborate with you with a constant awareness of the environmental impact of each visual we create together.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about My Work as a Freelance Illustrator

Do you have questions about my work, my way of collaborating, or how my watercolour illustrations can be used?
This FAQ has been created to answer the most common questions from publishers, brands, or communication agencies looking to collaborate with a freelance illustrator.

If your question isn’t listed here, I warmly invite you to get in touch.
I’ll be delighted to reply as soon as possible.

I am a registered artist-author with URSSAF du Limousin, under the controlled declaration system, with my accounts kept in accordance with current French standards.
My APE code is 90.03A – Artistic creation in the visual arts, and my activity is currently 100% freelance.

I am a member of ADAGP, which manages the collective and copyright royalties for my artistic works.
I personally handle the rights transfers included in my commissioned illustration contracts.

I also belong to several professional associations and collectives, both for my illustration and artistic practice:

French artistic circles: Maison des Artistes, Collectif Les Hang’Art, Illustration l’Atelier
Artistic circles in Northern France and Belgian Flanders: Aquasol Douai, Aquarellistes en Nord, Cercle Royal Artistique Mouscronnois

I am not (yet!) represented by an art agent.
At the moment, I work directly with my clients, which allows me to build a strong and genuine relationship of trust from our very first exchanges.

However, I am open to collaborations with:

  • communication agencies or creative studios wishing to include me in their projects,

  • illustration agents interested in developing partnerships, particularly abroad.

Yes, absolutely.
I live in a small village in the Pévèle region, in northern France, near Lille and just a stone’s throw from the Belgian border.
Although I have a deep appreciation for my local area and wish to contribute to its cultural richness through illustration, most of my current projects take place outside the region, all over France.

Thanks to my previous professional experience—particularly in coordinating international projects in both French and English—I am accustomed to collaborating remotely via video call with clients in France and abroad.
I therefore place no territorial or linguistic limits on the projects I take on, focusing instead on those that resonate with me.

Yes, in certain cases.
If an illustration already featured in my portfolio interests you for a project (publishing, communication, stationery, etc.), I invite you to consult the “Request Authorisation Online” section on the ADAGP website — the collective rights management society of which I am a member.

Works for which I have not transferred exclusive rights are available on request through this platform.

For any bespoke illustration commission, I invite you to contact me directly so that we can collaborate and create the most fitting artwork for your project.

My background is hybrid.
I initially pursued studies in business school (NEOMA Business School – Universität St. Gallen), a path strongly encouraged by my family and mentors. This gave me a solid foundation in management, strategy, communication, and entrepreneurship.

Several years later, I chose to return to my lifelong passion: artistic expression.
I trained in illustration through several complementary programmes:

I continue to develop my skills as needed, guided by a constant commitment to quality and alignment with my values.

The brief is an essential step that ensures the smooth running of any illustration project.

During our first contact, I will need some key information to understand your needs:

  • Who are you? (presentation of your company or organisation, your values)

  • What is the purpose of the project? (message, objective)

  • How many illustrations are you looking for?

  • Who is your target audience?

  • What is your intended timeline?

  • What is your allocated budget?

  • What level of involvement would you like in the creative process? (complete creative freedom or defined validation stages)

Once these elements are clarified, we can refine the quote and the contract together, integrating:

  • your visual identity or brand guidelines,

  • your visual references (mood board),

  • and a selection of illustrations from my portfolio that inspire you.

Working with watercolour requires a thoughtful and structured approach, as this traditional medium allows for very few adjustments once the colours are applied.
That’s why each project follows a clear and carefully considered process, ensuring a smooth collaboration and a professional result.

The main stages of collaboration

  1. First contact
You send me your brief, including: objectives, number of illustrations, schedule, budget, and type of medium (publishing, packaging, etc.).
  2. Initial meeting
We arrange a video call to clarify your expectations and refine the project together.
  3. Contract and deposit
Electronic signature of the contract and payment of a deposit to begin the creative process.
  4. Creative proposal
I send you a monochrome sketch to validate the composition.
Adjustments can be made depending on the terms of our agreement.
We also discuss the colour palette to be used.
  5. Watercolour creation
I paint the final illustration by hand, with the possibility of minor adjustments according to the conditions established in the contract.
  6. Final invoice
Payment of the remaining balance upon receipt of the invoice, according to the deadlines specified in the contract.
  7. File delivery
You receive your digitised, retouched and optimised illustrations — ready for print or web use, depending on your needs.

Timelines & approval milestones

  • Typical timeframe: 2 to 3 weeks from the signing of the contract and receipt of the deposit.
The schedule may vary depending on:
    • project urgency (with potential rate adjustment),
    • complexity,
    • seasonal demand,
    • your responsiveness during validation stages,
    • and any additional revisions requested.
  • Number of meetings: up to three approval checkpoints, preferably held via video call.
Each stage is confirmed in writing before moving on to the next.

Some clients give me complete creative freedom, especially as part of an ongoing collaboration.
We define together the level of artistic freedom from the very start of the project.

During the sketching phase, to validate the composition of the illustration with my client, I often work on a digital tablet.
This makes it easy to adjust an element — enlarging, reducing or repositioning a subject as needed.

Once the composition has been approved, I move into the real world: I create a light preparatory drawing in graphite pencil on my paper, leaving full space for the paint in the final result. I then use my brushes, pans, and tubes of watercolour — my medium of choice.

Although some clients refer to my work as drawings because of the precision of my line, I see myself as a watercolour painter, not a draughtswoman.

Yes, whenever possible.
My illustrations are created using traditional watercolour on paper — a technique that doesn’t allow for major adjustments once the painting process has begun or been completed.

That’s why I work with a step-by-step validation process, allowing us to refine the composition, atmosphere, or certain details together during the preparatory stages.
The number of revisions is agreed upon in advance in the contract, depending on the project’s complexity and your preferred level of involvement (validation at each stage or full creative freedom).

My goal is for each illustration to truly reflect your vision, while respecting the artistic constraints of watercolour.

I create all my illustrations entirely by hand, using traditional watercolour.
Each piece is then scanned in high resolution and carefully edited to be perfectly suited for your digital or print media (web, labels, packaging, stationery, etc.).

For the post-production phase, I work in Adobe Photoshop using raster format (not vector).
This ensures a faithful rendering of the painterly gesture, while meeting professional technical requirements: resolution, colour management, and formats optimised for print or web.
